Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (or BBVA) Portugal was founded in 1991 and is based in Lisbon, Portugal. It acts in the country as a subsidiary of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, a leading Spanish-based financial institution.

BBVA Portugal provides numerous services for both private individuals and private businesses. For private individuals, the services under checking account that the bank provides are a salary account (for which the minimum salary is 1500 euros), a pension account (for individuals above 59 years of age) and a base account (for all day to day transactions).

They also offer banking cards to private individuals, such as BBVA Antes card (it is a debit card, which means you have to recharge your card and can only use the balance on the card), BBVA Depois Classic card (this card is for shopping with an annual interest rate of 16.7%, however, when you shop you get 0.5% back) and BBVA Depois Gold card (this is for any kind of transaction and the annual interest rate is 16.7, however you can pay your due amount in full at the end of the month or in instalments).

BBVA provides deposit services for individuals that want to deposit between 250 euros to 100,000 euros. The interest rate depends on the deposit period. Typically, the interest rate for 90 days is 0.02%, for 180 days it is 0.050% and for 366 days it is 0.150%.

The bank also offers investment fund solutions for which they take your money and invest it into stocks for you and when they think they have earned enough profit from the stock, they sell it and liquidate it and after taking some commission, they return the residual profit.

For businesses, BBVA offers cash flow management services and investment financing services. They also provide businesses with insurance and help them create accounts for employees.
